Sketching Your Idea
Now that you’ve got all your ideas on paper, it’s time to start drawing them up. Sketching is an invaluable tool in the design process that no designer should ever be afraid of.
Step 1
Split your team in two and pick out the two most popular ideas, one per group. Take a new sheet of paper and start sketching out what it could look like.
Step 2
The purpose of this sketch is to start thinking about how you would make your idea using the laser cutter. Bear that in mind when deciding on your design and think about which materials might be suitable for laser cutting.
Try and draw your idea from multiple angles, i.e. a side view, a top view, or a close-up sketch of an important detail. Don’t be precious about your drawings, it is more important to get the idea across than to make them pretty.
Step 3
Bring your group back together and talk through your two ideas. Come to a decision about which will work best with the laser cutter and should get developed further.
