Now that you have created a digital embroidery file using your own design, it is time to embroider it onto a piece of fabric of your choice.
To embroider your design, you will use different colours of thread.
Once you have selected your thread colours, wind a bobbin with the first colour for your design.
(Hint: if you can’t remember how to do this, go back to Unit 4 – Lesson 2)
Next you need to thread the machine with the same colour thread as you just used for your bobbin.
(Hint: if you can’t remember how to do this, go back to Unit 4 – Lesson 2)
Select the piece of fabric you want to embroider and cut it to the right size for your embroidery hoop.
Cut a piece of tear-away backing which is the right size for your hoop as well.
Set up your embroidery hoop with the fabric and tear-away backing.
