Draw the 2D shapes for your 3D design using the skills you developed in Unit 1. Plan how they will fit together and take this into account when placing any decorative elements.
Open a new Inkscape document and using the design skills developed in Unit 1, start drawing the shapes that will create your 3D ornament.
Refer to the laser cut 3D samples on display for inspiration.
Make sure that all your shapes are designed proportionately to each other. We recommend a size between 60-80mm.
Make sure to consider how you want the parts to interlock together when planning any decorative designs.
If using any text, make sure to set the size, font and placement then use the Path>Object to Path command to lock your edits.
