Practise converting your file into a format appropriate for 3D milling.
Step 1
VCarve Pro is capable of importing a range of 3D file including Rhino 3D models and .obj files, but when exporting from Fusion 360, you will export your 3D model in the preferred file format which is a .stl file.
Before proceeding to export your file, check that your 3D model is now constituted of one body only in the left-hand menu.
Step 2
Select 3D Print in the Make menu.
Make sure that Send to 3D Print Utility is unticked and that the Refinement is set to Medium. Click on Preview Mesh and select your 3D model.
Click on OK and save your 3D model on the desktop as a .stl file using a memorable name.
Well done! You’ve now got a 3D model suitable for CNC milling. Move on to the next unit to find out how to import it into VCarve pro and set up 3D milling toolpaths.
